A Message from Our Volunteer State President

Honored to Serve The Power of Volunteers in Wyoming


In my second year as the AARP Wyoming Volunteer State President, I am deeply honored by the opportunity to serve. Every day, I work alongside an incredible team of dedicated volunteers across the state who share a common goal: empowering people as they age and building stronger, more livable communities.

AARP Wyoming is powered by a small but mighty staff of four. Together with our volunteers, we set priorities and advance initiatives that matter most to older adults in our state. Our mission is clear: From fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare to addressing the skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs and expanding caregiving resources for families, we are on a mission to improve the lives of older adults. My role is strategic and hands-on: I guide volunteer efforts and ensure AARP’s presence is felt in every corner of Wyoming.

But the real heart of our work lies with our volunteers.

Across Wyoming, AARP volunteers are out in communities daily, making a real difference. They expand our reach by leading educational workshops on fraud prevention and brain health, advocating for long-term care and emergency medical services at the state legislature, and hosting engaging events like movie nights and shredding days. Our volunteers also strongly commit to supporting veterans across the state, ensuring they receive the recognition and resources they deserve.

Their energy, passion, and dedication inspire me daily. Some are retired teachers, ranchers, nurses, and business owners; others have spent their careers as public servants or community leaders. Each brings a unique perspective, but they all share an unwavering commitment to making Wyoming a better place to live and age. As State President, I have the honor of supporting their efforts, amplifying their voices, and celebrating their successes.

Looking Ahead: A Year of Impact

This work isn’t always easy. Wyoming’s vast and rural nature presents challenges, but our volunteers’ dedication allows AARP Wyoming to continue growing, reaching more people, and delivering critical resources where they are needed most.

As we move forward, I’m particularly excited about the opportunities ahead. In the coming months, we will continue our advocacy efforts at the state legislature, host new fraud prevention events, and strengthen our support for caregivers. Additionally, we’re gearing up for National Volunteer Month in April, a perfect time to recognize those who give their time and talents to serve others and invite new faces to join us in making a difference.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, there’s never been a better time to get involved. Whether you want to advocate for policies that make our communities more livable, help people stay financially secure, or simply find new ways to connect with your neighbors, there is a place for you at AARP Wyoming.
