Located in the shadow of the Monuments, historic East Potomac Golf Course is a part of the National Park System.The first nine holes of East Potomac Golf Course were completed in 1921. East Potomac course was initially segregated, with Blacks permitted to play on Mondays only.  Nine additional holes were added in 1923, 1924 and 1930 for a total of 36 holes at East Potomac Park Golf Course. In 1930, A miniature golf course was built in East Potomac Park. It remains open today and is the oldest continually operating miniature golf course in the United States. In 1994, a new 100-bay driving range featuring covered and heated stalls was opened. Today, East Potomac Golf Course hosts over 90,000 rounds per year on its courses from residents and tourists alike. Its unique setting in the heart of D.C.s Mall and Memorial Park District give it some of the most breathtaking views to be found on any golf course in the country. Many golfers use the nearby Washington Monument to align their shots, and the official Presidential helicopter can often be seen overhead going to and from the White House. The course is serves as a practice facility for the First Tee of Washington, DC, as well as District of Columbia Public Schools and a host of other schools and community outreach programs.East Potomac features three distinct courses with varying features and levels of difficulty. The Blue course is a 6,500 yard 18-hole course that features a links style layout with the opportunity to hit every club in your bag. The White course is a 9-hole Executive course with par 3's and par 4's that are a challenge for experienced and for new golfers.The Red course is 9-hole course of all par 3 holes. It's perfect for getting into the game or for sharpening your skills. East Potomac has been recognized by Audubon International for its environmentally friendly maintenance practices.
