Herrington Manor State Park
Located within Garrett State Forest in Garrett County, Herrington Manor State Park's development began in the 1930's with the aid of the Civilian Conservation Corps. A 53-acre lake was formed by damming Herrington Creek, and ten cabins were erected on a wooded knoll above the lake.Herrington Manor was designated as a state park in 1964, and encompasses 365 acres. The park offers swimming, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, hiking, tennis, volleyball and 20 furnished log cabins for rental use year round. Interpretive programs are scheduled during the summer; and popular special events such as maple syrup demonstrations and apple butter making are held in the spring and fall of the year.

Stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the concession from 10am until 5pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Before and after the summer season, rentals are available at the Park Office. The lake also has a boat ramp for public use; however no gas powered motors are allowed.SwimmingThe park's swimming beach is guarded daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as weather and available staffing permits. Contact the park office for questions.FishingHerrington Lake is stocked with rainbow trout in the spring.The lake also has large mouth bass, bluegill and catfish.Winter Sports - Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, SleddingThe park offers 10 miles of trails into the adjoining state forest that are beginning to intermediate level.There is also a 5.5 mile trail that runs between Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Parks. The park trails are track-set when conditions allow.The Lakehouse is open daily with restrooms and tables. When the snow conditions allow, equipment rentals, snacks, and gifts are available at the Lakehouse on the weekends and at the park office during the week.

A 53-acre lake was formed by damming Herrington Creek, and ten cabins were erected on a wooded knoll above the lake.Herrington Manor was designated as a state park in 1964, and encompasses 365 acres. The park offers swimming, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, hiking, tennis, volleyball and 20 furnished log cabins for rental use year round. Interpretive programs are scheduled during the summer; and popular special events such as maple syrup demonstrations and apple butter making are held in the spring and fall of the year.</p> <p>Herrington Manor was designated as a state park in 1964. The 365-acre park, located within Garrett State Forest, offers swimming, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, hiking, tennis, basketball, volleyball and 20 furnished log cabins for rental use year round. Interpretive programs are scheduled during the summer; and popular special events such as apple butter boiling are held in the spring and fall. At the heart of this park is a 53-acre lake.TrailsHerrington Manor offers 12 miles of trails that loop through the Garrett State Forest.One trail connects Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Park and is 5.5 miles one way.Picnicking and PavilionPavilion, overlooks Herrington Lake, a 53 acre with a swimming beach, boat rentals, and a snack bar during the summer season. Day-use picnic area and playground also nearby.BoatingHerrington Manor offers boat rentals from Mid-April until mid October weather permitting. Stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the concession from 10am until 5pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Before and after the summer season, rentals are available at the Park Office. The lake also has a boat ramp for public use; however no gas powered motors are allowed.SwimmingThe park's swimming beach is guarded daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as weather and available staffing permits. Contact the park office for questions.FishingHerrington Lake is stocked with rainbow trout in the spring.The lake also has large mouth bass, bluegill and catfish.Winter Sports - Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, SleddingThe park offers 10 miles of trails into the adjoining state forest that are beginning to intermediate level.There is also a 5.5 mile trail that runs between Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Parks. The park trails are track-set when conditions allow.The Lakehouse is open daily with restrooms and tables. At the heart of this park is a 53-acre lake.TrailsHerrington Manor offers 12 miles of trails that loop through the Garrett State Forest.One trail connects Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Park and is 5.5 miles one way.Picnicking and PavilionPavilion, overlooks Herrington Lake, a 53 acre with a swimming beach, boat rentals, and a snack bar during the summer season. Day-use picnic area and playground also nearby.BoatingHerrington Manor offers boat rentals from Mid-April until mid October weather permitting. Stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the concession from 10am until 5pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Before and after the summer season, rentals are available at the Park Office. The lake also has a boat ramp for public use; however no gas powered motors are allowed.SwimmingThe park's swimming beach is guarded daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as weather and available staffing permits. Contact the park office for questions.FishingHerrington Lake is stocked with rainbow trout in the spring.The lake also has large mouth bass, bluegill and catfish.Winter Sports - Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, SleddingThe park offers 10 miles of trails into the adjoining state forest that are beginning to intermediate level.There is also a 5.5 mile trail that runs between Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Parks. A 53-acre lake was formed by damming Herrington Creek, and ten cabins were erected on a wooded knoll above the lake.Herrington Manor was designated as a state park in 1964, and encompasses 365 acres. The park offers swimming, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, hiking, tennis, volleyball and 20 furnished log cabins for rental use year round. Interpretive programs are scheduled during the summer; and popular special events such as maple syrup demonstrations and apple butter making are held in the spring and fall of the year.</p> <p>Herrington Manor was designated as a state park in 1964. The 365-acre park, located within Garrett State Forest, offers swimming, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, hiking, tennis, basketball, volleyball and 20 furnished log cabins for rental use year round. Interpretive programs are scheduled during the summer; and popular special events such as apple butter boiling are held in the spring and fall. At the heart of this park is a 53-acre lake.TrailsHerrington Manor offers 12 miles of trails that loop through the Garrett State Forest.One trail connects Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Park and is 5.5 miles one way.Picnicking and PavilionPavilion, overlooks Herrington Lake, a 53 acre with a swimming beach, boat rentals, and a snack bar during the summer season. Day-use picnic area and playground also nearby.BoatingHerrington Manor offers boat rentals from Mid-April until mid October weather permitting. Stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the concession from 10am until 5pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Before and after the summer season, rentals are available at the Park Office. The lake also has a boat ramp for public use; however no gas powered motors are allowed.SwimmingThe park's swimming beach is guarded daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as weather and available staffing permits. Contact the park office for questions.FishingHerrington Lake is stocked with rainbow trout in the spring.The lake also has large mouth bass, bluegill and catfish.Winter Sports - Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, SleddingThe park offers 10 miles of trails into the adjoining state forest that are beginning to intermediate level.There is also a 5.5 mile trail that runs between Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Parks. The park trails are track-set when conditions allow.The Lakehouse is open daily with restrooms and tables. The park offers swimming, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, hiking, tennis, volleyball and 20 furnished log cabins for rental use year round. Interpretive programs are scheduled during the summer; and popular special events such as maple syrup demonstrations and apple butter making are held in the spring and fall of the year.</p> <p>Herrington Manor was designated as a state park in 1964. At the heart of this park is a 53-acre lake.TrailsHerrington Manor offers 12 miles of trails that loop through the Garrett State Forest.One trail connects Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Park and is 5.5 miles one way.Picnicking and PavilionPavilion, overlooks Herrington Lake, a 53 acre with a swimming beach, boat rentals, and a snack bar during the summer season. Day-use picnic area and playground also nearby.BoatingHerrington Manor offers boat rentals from Mid-April until mid October weather permitting. Stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the concession from 10am until 5pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Before and after the summer season, rentals are available at the Park Office. The lake also has a boat ramp for public use; however no gas powered motors are allowed.SwimmingThe park's swimming beach is guarded daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as weather and available staffing permits. Contact the park office for questions.FishingHerrington Lake is stocked with rainbow trout in the spring.The lake also has large mouth bass, bluegill and catfish.Winter Sports - Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, SleddingThe park offers 10 miles of trails into the adjoining state forest that are beginning to intermediate level.There is also a 5.5 mile trail that runs between Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls State Parks. The park trails are track-set when conditions allow.The Lakehouse is open daily with restrooms and tables. Day-use picnic area and playground also nearby.BoatingHerrington Manor offers boat rentals from Mid-April until mid October weather permitting. Stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the concession from 10am until 5pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Before and after the summer season, rentals are available at the Park Office. The lake also has a boat ramp for public use; however no gas powered motors are allowed.SwimmingThe park's swimming beach is guarded daily 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as weather and available staffing permits.
