Prompton State Park provides boat launching and picnicking facilities to the 290-acre Prompton Lake, which is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Twenty-six miles of hiking trails surround the lake.Hiking at Prompton State Park26 miles of trailsThe hiking trails are a mix of rocky paths and smooth forest floor. The northernmost 1.2-mile of East Shore Trail is old, smooth blacktop that used to be PA 170 before Prompton Dam was built, flooding most of the old road.
