Sinks Canyon State Park is located in west central Wyoming just south Of Lander, WY. The park is situated in the Wind River Mountains on the middle fork of the Popo Agie River. The site is named after a distinct geologic phenomena in which the Popo Agie river disappears into a Limestone cavern and reappears a ¼ mile down canyon in a placid pool filled with 8 - 12 lb. rainbow trout. The site has a variety of natural habitats which creates diversity of flora and fauna. The canyon provides a variety of recreational opportunities including nature studies, photography, camping, fishing, hiking, world class rock climbing and access to miles of mountain bike trails.Activities & Amenities:BikingSinks Canyon's, Canyon Loop Trail accesses Shoshone Forest bike trails for miles of Epic-level riding.More information: The bike trails are accessible by crossing the Swinging Bridge at Popo Agie Campground and turning right through the lower part of the Canyon loop trail. The Nature Trail to the left or straight up after the bridge is closed to bicycles.Campsites For RVsPrimitive camping with no electricity, each site has a firepit and table. There are 3 vault toilets throughout the campground Potable water is available along with firewood. Campsites are first come-first served (walk-ins) and only the yurts may be reserved in advance. More information: Sawmill Campground has our accessible site +2 pull in or tent sites. Popo Agie has 24 sites with limited sites for large trailers. Camping is on a first come, first served basis.Group Picnic SheltersHikingSinks Canyon offers spectacular hiking adventures for the whole family.More information: The North Slope Trail cannot be accessed from the Sinks to Rise trail during Popo Agie River overflow events.
