Village Renaissance Faire

576 Penns Park Road
Wrightstown, PA 18940

About:The Village Renaissance Faire is a recreation of a 12th through 16th century village named Penn's Park.It is conveniently set on the beautiful, and generously donated, Middletown Grange Fairgrounds located minutes from Philadelphia, New Jersey, Montgomery County and anywhere in Bucks County Pennsylvania. The Village consists of eleven stages and various sets: Merchant Squares, Living History Pavilions, Food Courts, Gaming area, Multi-cultural enclaves, Craft Corners, and Kid's Kingdom. One weekend every year the fairgrounds are transformed into the ultimate family festival with stories, intrigues, history, crafts, varied entertainment, and interactive play. The Village has all the entertainment, crafts, food, and history befitting the interest and entertainment of everyone, from peasantry to nobility, youth to seniors. The Village awakens each day at 11:00 am for visitors to wander about and become accustomed to the village layout before the grand procession and a full day's worth of activities. As one explores the lovely re-created grounds, it may be impossible not to pause for a moment to listen to a musician, watch a mime, or interact with the countless characters, performers, and demonstrators. The Living History Pavilion provides the opportunity to watch the mending of armor, henna tattoos, the illumination of manuscripts, hand-to-hand combat and archery, among other demonstrations. It will be difficult to decide what to do (or what to do first) as performers fill multiple stages and sets begin every half-hour.Although the two full armored horseback jousts, the living chess matches, and trebuchet and weapons of war demonstrations are cornerstones of the faire, there are countless other shows that draw the attention and admiration of faire goers. The faire boasts not only an aerialist that rises above the grounds and into the sky, but also fire breathers, hot coal walkers, and even dragons roam the grounds and…the sky. And best of all, as with all aspects of the faire, attendees of all ages are welcome to join the show or meet the performers afterwards to learn, share, and enjoy the crafts we call history, art, edutainment. It will be difficult to decide what to do (or what to do first) as performers fill multiple stages and sets begin every half-hour.Performers provide a wealth of offerings. See a fire-juggler, watch authentic hand to hand combat and live steele, watch a human chess match, listen to music and choral groups, and be enraptured with mimes, knights, archers, and fair maidens. The Faire has non-stop entertainment for all ages.Kids Kingdom and hands-on crafts remain a centerpiece of this community event and its edutainment purposes. Teaching, encouraging, and educating through hands-on activities, skilled guides, and enjoyment. Games and activities are at every turning of the Fairegrounds so that fairegoers are consistently given the opportunity to observe, become involved, and always, be entertained. The attractive interludes of free pastimes range from chess tournaments and dragon hunts, to feats of strength and daring. The children's area includes a maze, foam archery, a puppet stage, peasants music land, castle building, fairies castle, and knightly training. The youngest ones can also enjoy free ball play within their own castle walls, as well as tables of sand, water, and bubble play. This safe play area will often give the wee ones a chance to interact with the actors. Giant games are abound including Giant Chess, where patrons and actors alike will interact with 3 foot chess pieces on a chessboard they walk upon themselves. And…its FREE ALL DAY.Free craft activities are offered to the wee ones to develop their costumes, or even make gnomes and fairies to take to gnome village for their own, self-creative tales and play under the supervision of lady Penny and library staff.Contests allow faire patrons to win prizes donated by local businesses by joining in dragon egg hunts, costume contests, feats of strength, and much, much, more.
